This week the existing playground was relocated by Jon F. Swift Construction to local church to be reused and re-purposed. Finding a new home for the playground allowed Longboat Key and construction crews to avoid adding additional construction waste into the landfill. This is a part of our construction manager’s sustainable building practices.
With most of the demolition complete, the project started taking shape - including the north parking area. Crushed concrete will be hauled in during the coming weeks to form the road base. The last of the Australian pine trees were removed this week as well. Construction crews dug more of the ponds on site and will continue to dig the remaining ponds next week. These dry retention ponds are required by the Southwest Florida Water Management District for onsite storm water control.
